Fingering The Blame!
30/10/2009

With the 2009 season barely underway, Bullets bad boy Dean Jones has immersed himself in hot water once again by making a lewd gesture during the half-time break of The Bullets Round 1 clash against The AFLVic All-Stars. Jones was captured on tape giving the middle finger to millions of viewers around the world. The switchboard at Channel Seven lit up like a Christmas tree as the offensive footage went to air. Head caller of Channel 7's recreational football coverage Bruce McAvaney described the incident as "anything but special", furthermore adding that there was "nothing delicious about it". The controversial gesture has angered several parent groups, who believe Jones should be immediately sacked as the face of recreational football's AusKick program.

The incident is the latest in a long line of boorish behaviour by Jones, including several bar fights, wild partying with disgraced singer Amy Winehouse, and inciting a riot at one of Melbourne's most prestigious private schools. It should have been a night to remmeber for Jones, kicking six goals in his comeback game.

Jones, who missed the entire 2008 season because of a broken finger, has so far denied any wrongdoing, stating simply that he was trying to send a message to concerned family and friends that his recently rehabilitated finger had got through the first half unscathed.
