Mez: Father Of The Year?
28/10/2009

It was a whirlwind start to the season for century goalkicker and new dad Andrew Merryweather who, after a lengthy and bitter court battle, was finally ruled as being the biological father of Anna Nicole Smith's daughter, Dannielynn. Less than 24 hours later, the proud papa was on the team bus heading to Elgar Rd Oval for Round 1 action of the BHRFL. With girlfriend Paris Hilton and baby Dannielynn watching on from the sidelines, 'Mez' kicked a whopping seven goals to hand The Bullets a season-opening victory. Speaking exclusively to OK Magazine during the week, Merryweather revealed that the lengthy paternity battle had taken a toll on his form in season 2008, but he was now focused and re-energised. Merryweather, who briefly dated Nicole-Smith before meeting Hilton, said Paris had been a great support, despite not being the mother of his child. When asked what she thought of Mez changing diapers, Hilton was quoted as saying "that's hot!".

Merryweather's seven goals and best-on-ground performance was just one of the highlights in The Bullets' stunning 52 point win against The AFLVic All-Stars. Dean Jones kicked six goals in his comeback game, while sister Narelle Jones kicked two goals (including a sensational torpedo from long range) in one of her best performances in front of the big sticks. But the night was about Merryweather, whose seven goals was a record for a season opener.

Bullets players, support staff, and fans would all like to congratulate 'Mez' on the latest addition to his family.
