We Were Robbed!
20/11/2008

Bullets fans at Elgar Park were left seething on Wednesday night due to the actions of veteran defender Rob Hazell. "The Haze", who has been dealing with a gambling addiction, was a late omission from the side that took on Gary Ablett Jr. While many fans watching and listening to the game at home flooded switchboards of television and radio stations claiming they felt "robbed" by Hazell's absence, fans at the grounds were feeling "robbed as well...literally. Hazell was arrested only moments prior to the game after it was uncovered that he had been stealing valuable possessions from Bullets supporters. Number one ticketholder Dan Vitale was reportedly livid when he discovered that his highly valued autographed photo of Hogan's Heroes star Bob Crane had gone missing. Dean Jones, also a fixture on the sidelines this season, was deeply upset about the theft of his Walkley Award that he had received the previous week for his work on Keeping Up With The Jonesy.

Hazell should be okay to return to the side next week after posting bail...although it was an anxious wait in his jail cell to see how much the daily double at Sandown was paying. He survived an internal suspension on Thursday night at a meeting of The Bullets match committee, but has been ordered to pay Vitale $2.00 for a replacement photo and $7.62 in emotional damages.
