Narelle's Heartbreak!

NEW IDEA LIFTS THE LID ON BULLETS OFF-FIELD DRAMAS!!!.

There were huge ramifications from The Bullets' Round 7 loss to The Travellers in the SRFL, none bigger than the strain placed on the relationship of Narelle Jones and Bullets one-gamer Keith Randall. Randall shockingly became an ex-Bullet and defected to The Travellers just moments before the bounce on Tuesday night, leaving Bullets players and supporters dumbfounded. It was not a good night overall for the Jones family. Narelle's brother Dean gave away a 15-metre penalty (and was lucky not to be sent off the field) after giving the field umpire a spray following a contentious contact decision in a marking contest.

Narelle this week sold her story to New Idea, telling of the betrayal she felt seeing her fiance line up for the opposition. Jones told New Idea that the car ride home from the game was very tense and triggered a series of arguments during the week as Narelle and Keith hotly debated whether to vote Labor or Liberal at a local polling station, whose turn it was to wash and dry at the kitchen sink, and who had control of the remote. One neighbour allegedly heard the two even arguing over the relative merits of Matt and Natalie during the finale of Australian Idol. Even the ever-reliable 'rock, paper, scissors' couldn't settle their disputes with Narelle telling New Idea "I mean, really, how does paper beat rock?" While the wedding is still planned to go ahead, it is believed that Randall (whose coveted invitation to The Vitale Awards is now pending on an emergency meeting of Bullets board members) may be spending a large amount of nights in between now and then sleeping on the couch. Their future on the mixed doubles circuit of the Mulgrave Tennis Club is also in jeopardy.

Deeper investigations into The Bullets by New Idea also revealed other relationship woes with star forward Andrew Merryweather once again jeopardising his upcoming nuptials by spending more time with Paris Hilton. While the pictures in the issue may tell otherwise, Merryweather assured us that Hilton is reformed since her lengthy stay in prison, and the two spent a quiet evening playing Canasta and drinking Ovaltine. And current Vitale Medallist Luke Barisic has been revealed as the real reason Shane and Simone Warne called it quits. According to one source, Barisic seduced Simone with the line "Sure, your husband has taken a lot of test wickets, but nobody has more hitouts than me, baby. Nobody's even close...not Murali, nobody!"

On the field, The Bullets got off to a great start and led the game by four points at half-time. But The Travellers overwhelmed them in the second half and ran out nine point winners. Andrew Merryweather once again was among the goals, kicking four more to take his season tally to 23 and career tally to 90 goals. He plays his 25th game next week. Dean Jones chimed in with a goal before injury and frustration got the better of him. Ruth Hannan returned to the side and found herself lining up in defense. She will be looking to move further up the ground next week and getting back among the goals. She was supported down back by Rob Hazell and Warren 'Coachy' Burford, who continued their good form, while Luke Barisic and Narelle Jones were busy once again in the midfield.

The loss sees The Bullets slump to 3-4 and seventh place on the ladder. The side will be looking to snap the losing streak next week against The Barracudas, but it won't be easy as The Barracudas notched their first win of the season last week against the strong Dumbalk side and will have their tails up.

Around the website this week, don't forget to check out the news section to read a recent interview we conducted with Rob Hazell after his 10th game. And also note that the release of Vitale Medal votes to the public ceased last week, with the last three rounds of votes to be revealed at The Vitale Awards in January.
