'COACHY' GOES BACK IN TIME AND RETURNS WITH 3 CLUB LEGENDS, BUT BULLETS STILL FACE UNCERTAIN FUTURE!

In financial crisis and facing a possible relocation to the Gold Coast, three legends returned to The Bullets for Round 5 action of the SRFL, but it wasn't enough to save the club from their second defeat of the season. Following star forwards Andrew Merryweather and Dean Jones joint decision to boycott the game after refusing to accept pay cuts, Warren 'Coachy' Burford hopped into his time machine and brought about the long-awaited returns of Debbie Murray, Dave Beattie, and Rob Rizzo.

The future looked bright for The Bullets as they started well against last year's premiers, Our Boys Don't Run. However, the reigning champions turned the clock back to 2006 (where they beat The Bullets by 63 points) and inflicted another 10-goal defeat, as The Bullets were once again overpowered by one of the competition's elite clubs.

Beattie, who was thought to have retired for good, made an immediate impact by taking the first mark of the game, while debutante Ruth Hannan kicked the side's first goal of the game and first nine-pointer of the season. But from then on, OBDR ran away with the game as The Bullets struggled in what became a very physical contest. Still, there were many positives for the side. Beattie, in his comeback game, managed to kick his first career goal and take several telling marks. Debbie Murray, making her long-awaited comeback, showed little signs of rust as she displayed all of her trademark flair. The other comeback kid, Rob Rizzo, finished the game strongly with some great drive out of defence. Ruth Hannan's career got off to an impressive start as she kicked a couple of goals, becoming the sixth member of an elite group who have kicked a goal in their first game. Narelle Jones kept the statisticians busy, racking up possessions across the midfield and defensive areas, while Rob Hazell and Luke Barisic continued on with their good form.

The loss ended The Bullets' three-game winning streak and has seen the club slump to fifth on the ladder. Next week, they take on The Gunners, a side they have beaten twice before. However, The Gunners are one of the big improvers of the season and currently sit in fourth place. It is hoped that the monetary dispute that kept Merryweather and Jones from playing this week can be resolved in time for this crunch game.
