Keeping Up With The Jonesy: From The Sidelines
06/11/2008 When l discovered the damage l had done to my finger in The Bullets final regional challenge practice match on October 29, l thought: "Well, I'm not playing rec footy this season, and my finger will be in a splint for 6 weeks...dissapointing, but no real big deal". But those thoughts changed early on in The Bullets season pipe opener last week as we required a player from the oppo to help make up our team and we struggled throughout the first half going in 3 goals down. But the real frustration kicked in during the 2nd half as we rallied to hit the lead, knowing that l couldn't be part of it. Mind you, if there was a spare 'F' bib lying on the ground in front of me, just try stopping me from pulling it on and sprinting into our forward line to take a one-handed mark and sinking the winning goal and being chaired off on No. 32's shoulders as a Bullets hero. The frustration will continue as the season continues, but at least our No. 1 ticketholder will have some company on the sidelines this season as the Bullets slug it out on Elgar Park in the Box Hill Rec Footy Season 2008. Until next week this has been Deano from the sidelines.
