Coachy's
Corner: 2010 Corporate Games
Hi everyone,
The Bullets participated in our second Australian Corporate Games at Albert Park on Saturday 20th November. With one campaign under our belt, we were pretty keen to at least play off this year...
Our Squad:
Andrew Merryweather
Brent Jones
Bronwyn Sudholz
Hannah Bereznicki
Josh Pitts
Luke Barisic
Narelle Randall
Rob Hazell
Warren Burford
Our two new players were Bronwyn Sudholz, who had played a practice match for the Bullets earlier in the regular season and Hannah Bereznicki, who was making her debut for the footy club. Josh came into the side again for the day after winning the Buszard Medal for the Bullets Player of the Corporate Games last year.
Game 1:
A nice start to the Bullets with a six point win 27-21 over ANZ. Our backline stood up beautifully - Brent and Rob playing very well, while Narelle's start to the day was just as impressive, combining with Luke in the middle. Josh amassed 3 majors, with Andrew and Bron playing a strong support role up forward.
Goals: Josh 3, Andrew 1
Best Players:
Game 2:
In a 21 point victory to our side, Andrew was on complete fire kicking 4 goals and showing some magic with a magnificent steal from his Leica opponent resulting in a goal to Bron. Bron and Corp. Games captain Luke, played great footy scoring 4 goals between them. Josh moved to the midfield with Narelle, each getting plenty of the ball and Hannah, Rob and Brent held up their end of the bargain in the backline.
Goals: Andrew 4, Bron 3, Luke 2
Best Players:
Game 3:
Luke joined Brent and Narelle in defence in this 18 point win to the Bullets over Tenix. Andrew played very well in the midfield and teamed well with Hannah. Josh returned to the forward line and along with Bron and Rob, who had a good first half, kicked the Bullets home for our third victory.
Goals: Josh 2, Rob 2
Best Players:
Game 4:
We got our wish, and saw ourselves in a Corporate Games Grand Final. I replaced Josh (who had to go) and joined Andrew in the forward half. We also lost Bron, so we had to make do with seven players. Probably a little weary, we battled hard but fell in by 16 points to Mattel. Andrew was fantastic again with limited opportunities while Luke and Hannah tried their guts out. Brent, Rob and Narelle were also big triers, using the ball quite well.
Goals: Andrew 2
Best Players:
Again, a sensational day was had by all. A big thank-you to Luke for organising the team and registrations. We went one better this year finishing second and collecting runners up medals. With winning the regular comp flag last year and doing so well in this years Corp. Games, who knows what '11 will bring...
