Coachy's Corner: Round 5, 2009

Hi everyone,

In Round 5 this week, we faced The Mugars for the second time this season. The Bullets welcomed Renee Tsongas for her first game and Dean Jones returned to the side as well. Simon & Brent played back, Luke & Renee were the centres and Andrew & Dean fronted goals. In a whopping start, Andrew finished the half with eight goals and Dean four. Everyone around the ground was superb. Brent & Simon out of defence used the ball wonderfully well and took fine marks. Renee won plenty of the ball and delivered it well, and Luke was everywhere. The Mugars had scored a couple of goals but we were around ten goals up at half time.

This was an 87-point win with Andrew kicking 12, Brent - who moved forward - booting seven, and Dean's four from the first half. Luke was fantastic, marking & kicking well, as was Renee. Even though The Mugars managed to kick another couple, Simon & Dean did well out of defence, but the ball wasn't down there very often.

Positives were Andrew's 12 goals - which were huge, just as Luke's 10 were three weeks ago against the same team, Renee's great running across the ground and getting in good position to take marks and dispose of the footy well, Luke's marking and field kicking (as I've already mentioned) was great, Dean's four first quarter goals - taken from very good marks, Brent bagging 7 goals plus the way he presented to take good clean marks, and Simon continuing on his good form. We should have a tighter match next week where we'll meet The Wannabees, who we went down to by 14 points three weeks ago. It's extremely difficult to give votes in a game like this one where everyone was sensational in a 100 point win...

Best Players: Andrew, Brent, Renee, Luke, Dean.

Big apologies Simon.
