Coachy's
Corner: Round 7, 2007
Hi everyone,
Round 7 this week saw The Bullets play The Travellers, a side we have had a fair bit of success against over the past year. For this 8pm match, we welcomed back Ruth Hannan.
It was a pretty competitive start to the game with Narelle's quick hands feeding the ball to Luke in the middle. The Bullets had a lot of the footy in the forward half & managed to score three goals in good time. Dean was busy taking a couple of grabs on the run & kicking his first, while Andrew was as dangerous as ever slotting two. Luke was on top of his kicking, finding his forward targets, as was Rob Hazell out of defence. Ruth took a couple of nice marks as she found her feet in her first week back. The Travellers came back at us a bit to see the Bullets four points in front at the break, 18-14.
The team stayed as it was for the last half, but unfortunately The Travellers kicked the first two goals & was threatening to run away with the game. Our team lifted a bit, getting our share of the ball, Narelle continued to handball the footy to Luke out of the centre, but we just couldn't score enough. Andrew kicked two more goals for the half, the last one a beautiful kick from the right boundary. Our two defenders were impressive, Rob playing a very solid match, taking a couple of marks & delivering some terrific passes. Ruth worked herself further into the game with six or seven marks. Luke & Narelle ran their guts out for the team & both played good games getting possessions, Luke's marking back to it's best.
The Bullets lost the contest 39-30 although we look forward to the next two weeks.
