Coachy's Corner: Round 6, 2007

Hi everyone,

The Bullets opened Round 6 this week with a 6:30 match against The Gunners, whom we had beaten the past two years. The side regained the services of Dean & Andrew.

The match didn't start off in a good way for The Bullets, as Deb, who started in the backline, pulled an upper leg muscle & hobbled off. That left us with one female player, Narelle, who was already in the centre. Andrew kicked two goals for the half & gave Dean a couple of chances for one major. Rob Rizzo got a bit of the footy in defence, as did Rob Hazell, taking a couple of nice marks, but both were up against it. Luke & Narelle tried hard as always in the middle, but the Gunners were streaking away.

The second half saw Dean & Rob Rizzo swap ends. Our team was beaten by 54 points, 26-80 but at least we roughed it out. Dean was good in defence, with plenty of run & won his share of the ball. He played with determination & at one stage he ran so hard, he looked like a raging bull going for a red cloth! Rob Hazell tried hard & put pressure on opponents, as did Luke & Narelle in the centre. Luke was another who virtually ran himself into the ground.

Rob Rizzo tried very hard up forward, a little bit down on fitness compared to last year, he took a couple of well judged marks against much taller opposition. Andrew tried everything too, pushing well up the ground to help out, he won a few kicks & fought hard in the air. We only kicked one goal for the half via myself, after a very good build up from Luke & Dean.

It was a very disappointing day & we need to get back on the winners list.

Best Players: Dean, Andrew, Luke, Rob H, Rob R
