Corner: Round 3, 2007
Hi everyone, After a stirring win in Round 2, The Bullets were facing newcomers, WaSPs, in Round 3 at 7:15pm. We saw the debut of Tina Randall, who is the sister of one-game player Keith Randall, who watched the match on the boundary. The side got off to a big start with Luke & Tina playing well in the centre. Luke found Andrew a couple of times for two goals. Dean & Rob Hazell were in defence, rebounding the footy out and Narelle virtually kept her opponent kickless. A successful half was had as we led 18-9, with Andrew on three goals, at the change. Dean moved forward and I went down back with Rob & Narelle to start the second half. The Bullets continued on their merry way, Andrew proving very lively up forward, with Dean in strong support. We kicked on, scoring the next three goals, but the very persistent WaSPs kept pegging us back. They got within two points deep in the half but our team's experience in Rec Footy saw us kick three more goals to Andrew and Dean to run out winners. Rob Hazell continues to play good footy, his kicking coming out of defence is fantastic to watch, one of his passes to Tina late in the half a standout. Tina's debut was impressive, getting a lot of the ball, dishing it off to Luke & taking a couple of good marks. Luke himself played a great game, his kicking to forwards was effective & a couple of late, saving marks helped us. Narelle, who wasn't well 24 hours earlier, stuck to her opponent like glue & prevented her virtually getting a touch. Dean battled hard proving a dangerous option & finished with a goal for the half. Andrew starred kicking seven goals and was the difference between the two sides. The win was a hard fought one in the end and the players should feel proud of their efforts. The Wasps were terrific & have a good future in Rec Footy. That leaves us 2-1 with the season still very young. Best Players: Andrew, Luke, Rob.H, Tina, Dean. |
