Coachy's Corner: Round 2, 2007

Hi everyone,

After coming off a hefty loss last week, we were facing The Pencils at 8pm, with Narelle making her first appearance for the team this season. The club was informed this week that Deb Murray would be stepping away from Rec Footy and The Bullets thank her for her services throughout last year.

In cold, windy & difficult conditions, our team got off to a reasonable start. Rob Hazell was prominent in defence, taking a couple of good marks & with myself, driving the ball forward. Luke & Narelle teamed well in the middle winning possessions and setting up a couple of goals for Dean & Andrew, who were looking dangerous up forward by leading well & taking good marks. We were in front at half time 25-18. Dean & Andrew both had two goals.

There was a quiet air of confidence in the huddle during the break & we left things as they were for the second half. Narelle & Luke continued their good combination as The Pencils continued to make mistakes by missing targets in the swirly conditions. Rob was fantastic down back, kicking well & showing leadership - he is a player who will continue to do well as the season goes on. Dean was busy in the forward half with Andrew starring kicking another goal when we needed it. That was enough to get us over the line for a seven point win 32-25. It was a great team effort, being two players down. Luke was very steady & Narelle was impressive, especially in the first half, where she took couple of marks & one of her passes resulted in a goal.

A fantastic win against the odds, Andrew finished with three goals & Dean two.

Best Players: Andrew, Rob.H, Dean, Luke, Narelle.
